Essays dealing with finance are more tedious to complete especially when it discusses specialised matters such as the mechanics of the stock market and the availability of funds for any organisational project. With topics like this, it is even more important that the organisation of the essay is strictly followed.

Students must remember the need to build unified paragraphs around topic sentences and to link these paragraphs together in a logical order with effective transitions. While revising, they can look for sentences that do not seem to fit in a particular paragraph and omit them.

They must also keep an eye for paragraphs that do not have enough material to support the topic sentence. Every paragraph must have a topic sentence and supporting sentences to further elaborate the point it presents.

If there are visual materials included in the finance essay, students have to be certain that the visuals used are closer to the text they supplement lest the readers will only get more confused by mismatched visuals.

Students can also use the following checklist to inspect if their finance essays still have the following elements:

• Does each paragraph of the finance essay have a topic sentence that expresses the central idea of the paragraph?
• Does every other sentence of the finance essay relate to the topic sentence of the same paragraph?
• Does each paragraph of the finance essay have at least two to four sentences?
• Is there a smooth flow from one paragraph to the next in the finance essay?
• Does the information unfold in a logical order that does not confuse the readers?
